15th Annual Sun Wine & Food Fest @ Mohegan Sun | Montville | Connecticut | United States

The 15th annual Sun Wine & Food Fest at Mohegan Sun will be held on January 26, 27 and 28, 2018, featuring beer, wine, specialty spirits and dishes by local and celebrity chefs with entertainment and live demonstrations. Three days of events are offered including a Bourbon Tasting session and Divine Delights, which pairs desserts and  wines.

The Grand Tasting showcases more than 1,000 brands will enjoy tastings of specialty sponsor spirits. Foodies can sample signature dishes from the region’s most highly-rated restaurants. The Main Culinary Stage is the backdrop for two days of celebrity chef demonstrations and contests. Other features offered are the Celebrity Chef Dine Around on Saturday night, while  Sunday culminates with a Sunday Brunch with Martha Stewart.The official charity is Channel 3 Kids Camp.

The Taste of Fairfield – WinterFest will take place at the Brooklawn Country Club on January 28, 2018. Hosted by TownVibe/Fairfield Magazine, the annual event brings together a variety of restaurants, markets, vintners, distillers and brewers under one roof for guests to enjoy. The theme of this year’s winter event is comfort and party food, including popular Super Bowl party fare. There will be live music and comedy routines, plus the chance to enter a bowling tournament, held at the facility’s bowling alley. Part of the proceeds from the event will benefit Operation Hope.

Pre-purchased general admission is $50, which includes food, drink, and entertainment all afternoon. A VIP pass is $100 and provides food service, open bar, entertainment, and access to a lounge. 21 and under are $20. Children under 10 are free. Day-of-the-event tickets, if available, are $60 for general admission and $110 for the VIP lounge.

The 4th Annual Fire & Ice Festival will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 in the streets of downtown Putnam. The event is the largest single ice block carving competition in the U.S. where patrons can watch live ice carving demonstrations and a chocolate sculpting contest. Attendees will also have the chance to shop, view a community art installation and take advantage of food and drink specials at nearby restaurants. SKKY Vodka will be featured at ice bars among other brands and vendors. From 5 to 8 p.m., fire torches will be lit and visitors will be treated to a live show featuring The FireFly Caravan, fire dancers, light benders, costumed characters and more.

The Connecticut Brewer’s Guild will host the first annual Connecticut Craft Brew Fest at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford. Beer from a variety of local breweries will be available for tasting. All guests will receive a commemorative tasting glass. A limited number of VIP tickets are available for $40, and provide an opportunity for early entrance into the festival to talk with brew masters, buy  Connecticut Brewers Guild merchandise and sample exclusive vintage and barrel aged brews not available during general admission. General Admission tickets are available for $30 and Designated Driver tickets are $15. All proceeds will benefit the Connecticut Brewers Guild to “help further the goals of the craft beer movement” in Connecticut. Food is available for purchase and live music will be played during the day. Parking is free. VIP Admission is from 3 – 4 p.m. and General Admission is from 4 – 8 p.m. A vendor list is forthcoming.

Time for the sixth annual Rhode Island Brew Fest, a celebration of American craft breweries featuring the best brews the Ocean State has to offer. More than 50 breweries with over 175 beers to sample from will be showcased in two, three-hour sampling sessions from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m and 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Each session will feature live music, local vendors and a food court. A portion of every ticket sold is donated to the Rhode Island Brewers Guild. The Rhode Island Brew Fest is a 21+ event. Upon arrival, enjoy passed canapes and mingle with guests before being seated for a four-course dinner paired with wines from Jonathan Edwards Winery based out of North Stonington, Connecticut. Learn about the winery’s grape-growing and winemaking techniques from Jonathan Edwards, and the story behind the winery his parents first started. Newport Distilling Company will host a craft cocktail contest at The Revolving Door Restaurant, 509 Thames Street in Newport, on February 19, 2018. Using Newport Distilling Co.’s Thomas Tew Authentic Pot Still Rum, mixologists will create hand-crafted cocktails with a chance to win the Grand Prize and People’s Choice Award. Cocktail samples will be provided to guests.

Cover is $5 cash per person or free with a Winter Fest bracelet. All proceeds from the cover charge will benefit The Maher Center, a local organization devoted to the support and creation of opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities, their families, and the community at large.

In 2006, Newport Distilling Company became the first licensed distillery in Rhode Island in 135 years, resurrecting the rum of the 18th century, now called Thomas Tew, after the Rhode Island Pirate and resident of Newport.

Now in it’s seventh year, the Eat Drink RI Festival is expanding its showcase of the culinary world in Rhode Island.  Thursday, April 26th is the seventh installment of Dinner by Dames, a unique experience bringing together a group of Rhode Island’s most talented female chefs and bartenders for a multi-course dining event held at Skyline at Waterplace in downtown Providence. This year’s Dinner by Dames is a part of Paint the Town (RED) to benefit AIDS Care Ocean State.

On Friday evening, Truck Stop to benefit the Rhode Island Community Food Bank returns to the Food Bank’s huge lot in Providence with over 20 trucks—the largest gathering of its kind in New England. This sixth annual Truck Stop showcases even more of the excellence and variety of Rhode Island’s mobile restaurants, features local musicians, and also benefits an organization dedicated to ending hunger.

Saturday’s Grand Tasting features samplings of locally produced beer, wine & spirits, as well as an abundance of local food artisans at the Rhode Island Convention Center. During the Tasting there will be several culinary demonstrations featuring Rhode Island’s top chefs paired with a local producer to wow attendees with some of the best food in the country.
