JAMESON TO EXPAND BLACK BARREL DISTRIBUTION

By September 11, 2012New Products

Jameson® Irish Whiskey announces it is expanding distribution of Jameson® Black Barrel to New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois, Washington, D.C. and Massachusetts. Jameson Black Barrel, which made its successful debut in New York in 2011, blends a rare, small batch grain whiskey with a bold and full-bodied pot still whiskey.

“The Premium Whiskey category is experiencing very strong and accelerating growth and is one of the fastest growing spirit’s segments in the U.S.,” said Wayne Hartunian, Vice President Whiskies and Cognac for Pernod Ricard USA. “Jameson Black Barrel is the latest and most exciting release. While the taste is a bit darker, more full-bodied and complex than original Jameson, it maintains the same distinct satisfaction of enjoyment that any Jameson whiskey offers.”

Differentiating itself from Jameson original, Jameson Black Barrel has a higher proportion of Irish Pot Still whiskey, which is blended with a rare small batch grain whiskey and distilled on just one day each year. The distillate is matured in black, flame-charred American oak casks resulting in a taste profile of perfectly proportioned sweet fruit and toasted wood flavors. Jameson Black Barrel will be available in 750mL and 1L sizes and will retail at a suggested price of  $34.99 and $39.99 respectively.
