Eighteen restaurants in Rhode Island received Wine Spectator Annual Awards of Excellence 2017. The following restaurants received the “Best of” Award of Excellence: Newport’s 22 Bowen’s Wine Bar & Grille and The Dining Room at Castle Hill, Jamestown Fish in Jamestown, Restaurant 1879 on Block Island and Seasons in Watch Hill. The following restaurants received the Award of Excellence: Caffe Itri and Chapel Grille both in Cranston; Providence’s Camille’s, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, Hemenway’s Seafood Grill & Oyster Bar, Mill’s Tavern and The Capital Grille; Fluke Wine Bar & Kitchen, The Spiced Pear Restaurant, The White Horse Tavern and The Mooring Seafood Kitchen & Bar, all in Newport; The Olympia Team Room in Watch Hill; and The Coast Guard House Restaurant in Narragansett. The magazine recognized 3,592 restaurants across all 50 states and 75 countries based on the establishment’s wine list offerings.
