The “world’s first meat flavored spirit,” Bakon Vodka, is now available through Rhode Island Distributing Co. LLC. Bakon combines triple-distilled Idaho potatoes with the savory flavor of a crisp slice of peppered bacon resulting in a “smooth, slightly sweet” vodka. Bakon was launched by three friends in Seattle in May 2009 after two years of testing recipes. The vodka was given 92 points by the Beverage Tasting Institute. Capitalizing on the trend of “carnivorous cocktails,” recipes include the BLT Martini, the Bakon Mary and the Pizza Shot. Bakon Vodka retails for around $30.
