Westerly’s Ocean House highlighted The Macallan Scotch with an educational tasting in its Center for Wine & Culinary Arts on May 31. Alex Thibault, Market Manager at Edrington, led whiskey enthusiasts through a tasting of four expressions of the iconic Scotch: 12 Years Old Sherry Oak Cask, 12 Years Old Double Cask, 15 Years Old Double Cask and 18 Years Old Sherry Oak Cask. Thibault shared his knowledge about each expression’s flavor profile, The Macallan’s production methods and the rich history of the Speyside single-malt Scotch whisky. Guests were also surprised with a bonus taste of a special release, The Macallan Harmony Collection Vibrant Oak, which was produced in collaboration with Cirque du Soleil. Established in 1824 on the banks of the River Spey, The Macallan Estate continues to craft its premium, single-malt Scotch characterized by the use of its own toasted and seasoned oak casks in its maturation process.
