Fenton River Grill was created as a place to enjoy handcrafted, quality food in a warm, inviting and comfortable environment with a lively bar scene. Named after the river that runs through the town of Mansfield, the venue says it seeks to be an integral part of the community, from providing a public space for gatherings and parties to donations to local organizations. Fenton River Grill offers shareable plates, creative specials, craft cocktails and craft beer with a 20-line state-of-the-art tap system drawing primarily from Connecticut and New England, with a few from other parts of the U.S. Chefs showcase their talents with seasonally influenced ingredients. In the warmer months, guests can enjoy its patio for true alfresco dining. As part of its summer menu rollout, the showcased cocktail of the month features two Connecticut-made spirits.
Cocktail: Jitterbug Perfume
Ingredients:
» 2 oz. Westford Gin
» .5 oz. Wild Moon Lavender Liqueur
» .5 oz. lavender simple syrup
» .5 oz. fresh-squeezed lemon juice
» .5 oz. Cointreau
» Garnish: lemon peel and lavender flower
Method: Shake and double strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a lemon peel
and a lavender flower.
“The cocktail we chose is our Jitterbug Perfume. It is named after my favorite Tom Robbins novel,” said Steve Smith, Co-owner/General Manager, Fenton River Grill. “We love this drink because it has a great balance of boozy, sweet and sour. It is layered and complex. We also love that we are using two Connecticut spirits. In the summer, we grow fresh lavender on our patio to make our simple syrup. The Westford Gin is bright and floral with a nose of citrus. The gin is something you could sip neat or on the rocks. We love the Westford Hill distillery products. I tell all of our guests to go out and visit the distillery. Great and very relaxing time. The property is beautiful.”
