Since 2012, Louisville Distilling Company has periodically released a cask strength expression. For the 2017 release, hand-selected barrels are blended and then receive an extended finish in Port wine casks. Each year, the proof varies based on the barrels selected; the 2017 is 124.5-proof. A dash of water will help release the aromatics (oak, tea, herbs, leather) and palate with complex fruit notes. Limited release, but available in 25 states.
