A Friday night beer pairing dinner at Coast Guard House on Oct. 28 showcased Bristol-based brewer Twelve Guns Brewing for an autumn evening in the Anchor Room. The multicourse meal featured Twelve Gun Brewing’s The Meg, 5.5% ABV; Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Sour, 6% ABV; Oktoberfest, 6.5% ABV; Shore Leave IPA, 8% ABV; and Havacup Coffee Stout, 5.5% ABV. The Coast Guard House cuisine team crafted dishes such as spring onion and chive double Gloucester crostini, strawberry salad, grilled ribs, and pork and gnocchi followed by coffee glazed ginger cake with brown butter, applesauce and espresso mascarpone mousse for each of the respective beers. The brewery, which opened in 2019, pays homage to the early Rhode Island Naval vessel the U.S.S. Providence. Serving in the Revolutionary War under the Continental Navy, the U.S.S. Providence boasted 12 guns. Founded by Connecticut native Kyle Michaud, Twelve Guns Brewing offers its 10-barrel brewery and taproom off Metacom Avenue, where the team crafts its brews and hard seltzers, in distribution with Mission Beverage.
