Diageo and Counter Weight Brewing Co. hosted a kickoff party celebrating a new collaborative brew with Bulleit Bourbon at its brewery and taproom in Cheshire on April 6. The teams met to celebrate the new collaboration of Bulleit Bourbon Barrel Aged Beer, where Counter Weight will brew and age a new beer in Bulleit barrels on-premise at its taproom through a Diageo program called Bulleit & Beer. Bulleit Bourbon, a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey produced at the Bulleit distillery in Lebanon, Kentucky, and the Bulleit distillery in Shelbyville, Kentucky, offers a high rye content and is aged for at least six years. Scheduled for a fall release as a brewery exclusive is a bottling of Bygone, a classic Old Ale aged in Bulleit Bourbon barrels for six months. Brimming with complex malt and barrel character, Bygone, 9.4% ABV, is a deep burgundy in color, offering notes of brown sugar, fig, marzipan, English toffee and caramel throughout.
