Grey Sail Brewing of Rhode Island added new offerings to its fall lineup. At 6.5% ABV, Grey Sail’s latest 16-ounce milkshake IPA, Kegnog, is a blend of vibrant Amarillo hops, lactose and vanilla with notes of citrus, resulting in a smooth, dessert-like beer, perfect for the holidays. A second seasonal offering is the Leaning Chimney Smoked Porter. A nod to history, the beer is named after an actual chimney that stands in the middle of Grey Sail’s Westerly brewery, original to the building that was once the 1920s-era Westerly Macaroni Factory. At 6% ABV, the porter offers a complex blend of flavors including dark chocolate, coffee and smoke, resulting in a satisfying and unique brew. Commemorating the brewery’s 12 years in business, Grey Sail’s Anniversary Triple IPA, which offers a blend of Citra and Mosaic hops, is a limited-edition offering. Grey Sail was opened by husband-and-wife team Alan and Jennifer Brinton in the converted factory on Nov. 11, 2011. Grey Sail now offers more than 10 core brews, along with a variety of seasonal offerings. Both Grey Sail Brewing and its sister company, South County Distillers, are distributed in Rhode Island via McLaughlin & Moran, Inc.
