RE: Delivery Extension Approved for April 2024
The Department received a written request filed by the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of Connecticut, Inc. (“WSWC”) requesting permission to deliver alcohol beverage products ordered in April 2024 through Friday, May 3, 2024.
The Department reviewed this request, which highlights: (1) the nature of the April calendar ending on a Tuesday, and (2) the anticipated high number of orders for April. Specifically, April is a “buy-in” month, meaning several large suppliers reduce prices on popular products and create a period of high demand, particularly in the final days of the month before the prices increase. Because April ends on a Tuesday, the WSWC believes wholesale orders will exceed delivery capacity and make completion of the increased deliveries by the end of the month impossible for wholesalers.
Following review, the Department approves the request to extend delivery of products ordered in April 2024 until May 3, 2024. This approval extends to all Connecticut wholesalers. Please note that this approval pertains to extension of delivery only and not to the placing of orders. All orders must still be placed by April 30, 2024.
