The 25th anniversary of Newport and its sister city, Kinsale, Ireland, was celebrated on April 10. Highlights included the signing of a “twinning” document at the Colony House by the two mayors and a short “wee” parade with current Mayor of Kinsale, Gillian Coughlan, and Charles Henderson, the previous Mayor of Kinsale, representing the twinning of Kinsale, with Newport’s Mayor Charlie Holder on hand. Other social events included a gathering at which Malt on Broadway paired desserts with Connecticut-based Litchfield Distillery spirits, hosted at Gardiner House. Litchfield Distillery Batchers’ Straight Rye Whiskey and Batchers’ Vanilla Bourbon were enjoyed with mini desserts and cakes crafted and showcased by the Malt team. Litchfield Distillery’s spirits line is distributed in Rhode Island by Johnson Brothers.
