
Brescome Barton, in collaboration with Max Hospitality, celebrated the 151st Kentucky Derby with a festive event at Max’s Oyster Bar in West Hartford on May 3. Mint Juleps, Black Manhattans and Boulevardier cocktails featuring Russell’s Reserve and Wild Turkey whiskeys were paired with Southern-inspired small plates such as Kentucky hot brown sandwiches, shrimp and grits, clam hush puppies, bourbon roasted oysters, fried chicken and pulled pork sliders. Guests dressed in their best Derby attire and hats entered to win raffle prizes as they watched three-year-old colt Sovereignty win the race in 2:02.3.
