Newport Oyster & Chowder Festival Celebrates Tastes

The ninth annual Newport Oyster & Chowder Festival, a celebration of Rhode Island’s marine community, returned to Bowen’s Wharf on May 17-18. Guests enjoyed food from local restaurants and oysters from several Rhode Island-based oyster growers, along with beverages and live music on Newport’s waterfront throughout the weekend. Sponsors included Ketel One Vodka, Don Julio Tequila, Bulleit Frontier Whiskey, Stoneleigh, Francis Ford Coppola Winery, Whalers Brewing Company, Dillon’s Small Batch Distillers, Moët & Chandon, Polar, Loyal 9 Cocktails, Poppi, Sailor Jerry, Silent Pool, SmartWater and Surv. The festival partnered with Child & Family, a Rhode Island-based nonprofit working to support the community through early childhood education and care, housing, foster care, counseling and family therapy.
