Sakonnet Vineyard participated in three Grand Tastings at the Nantucket Wine Festival May 14-18. Marking the first time Sakonnet has been included, it is Rhode Island’s only local vineyard to participate this year. Matt Gant, Assistant Tasting Room Manager, and Drew Eichinger, Sales Manager, were on hand to pour Sakonnet’s Blanc de Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Belcourt White, Eye of the Storm Rosé, Pinot Noir and Belcourt Red. The annual wine festival draws 4,000 attendees to the island for the spring fête with a continually growing family of vintners, wineries, renowned chefs and restaurants. Little Compton’s Sakonnet Vineyard is an iconic Rhode Island landmark and, at 50 years old, New England’s oldest vineyard, distributed in the state via Mancini Beverage. In 2024, James Davids and Marissa Stashenko assumed the management and winemaking responsibilities at the historic vineyard, bringing with them 30 years of winemaking experience.
