Cocktail Wars Newport hosted its third annual Mother’s Day Pink Drinks cocktail competition at Newport Harbor Island Resort on May 11. Led by Bartender and Cocktail Wars Newport Founder John Begin, the Pink Drinks for a Cause event showcased the spirits of both Connecticut-based Litchfield Distillery and Quiver Spirits. Four local bartenders competed to create their best pink-hued sippers, with Andrea Maisano, Wood St. Cafe and Mixolo’Dre, named the competition winner. Cindy King, Newport Live Events, was the competition’s runner-up. Competition judges Rich Pereira, Super Yacht; Savannah Blouin, Mixologist, Quiver Spirits; and Douglas Maloney, Brand Ambassador, Litchfield Distillery, evaluated each entry while guests enjoyed cocktail tastes. All mothers were treated to free drinks in honor of Mother’s Day. Spearheaded by Newport Live Events and its supporting sponsor spirits brands, sales from event cocktails benefited several local women’s charities.
