The cocktail community across southern Connecticut attended a money management seminar focusing on personal financial stability on May 12 at Olives and Oil in New Haven as part of its Side Door Sundays series. Co-hosted by Deon Ross, General Manager, Olives and Oil and Founder, Side Door Sundays, along with Alejandro Villacorta, bartenders, bar managers, servers and barbacks heard from guest speaker Matt Bailey, Founder and Owner, Fork Hospitality, who holds a bachelor’s in finance. During the seminar, the three addressed key topics, starting with understanding the financial implications of navigating slow and busy seasons. Attendees learned actions to mitigate losses and capitalize on peak times to improve overall yearly gains, as well as tax, retirement and savings strategies. “This seminar equipped participants with essential knowledge to advance their financial practices, ultimately contributing to the enduring success of our vibrant cocktail community,” said Ross. “What started as a casual hangout has turned into a brand focused on bringing our community together and helping each other grow, whether that’s through industry events, educational seminars or just sharing stories. It’s about supporting each other and elevating the industry we all love,” said Villacorta.
