The CT Brewers Guild will host the first Change in the Air Festival, featuring beer from 22 local craft breweries with a focus on black and brown-owned producers at Bear’s Smokehouse & BBQ in New Haven on Oct. 23. Daym Drops, star of Netflix’s “Fresh, Fried & Crispy” will be the event emcee, with live performances by Timmy Maia and the Paul Byrant Hudson Band and DJ Dooley-O. Food will be available for purchase from Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ and from Jazzy’s Soul Kitchen, Madeline’s Empanaderia, Je T’aime Cupcakes and @EatWithChrissy. The event will benefit the CT Brewers Guild African American Brewing Scholarship, which funds scholarships for black and brown students in Sacred Heart University’s Brewing Science Certificate Program. Through the program, which matches students with on the job training at local breweries, four scholarships were awarded in 2021, made possible through funding by New England Brewing Co., Athletic Brewing Company, Great Falls Brewing, Two Roads Brewing Co., Rhythm Brewing and the CT Brewers Guild.

The annual Greenwich Wine + Food Festival is a multi-day event highlighting the national, international and local food and beverage industry and featuring demos from multiple celebrity chefs. After a three-year hiatus, this year’s 10th-annual festival kicks off with The Big Easy, a celebration of the flavors and music of New Orleans, at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on Oct. 1, 2022. The dine-around event will feature acclaimed chefs serving up signature dishes, paired with the iconic cocktails of Bourbon Street, such as Hurricanes and Mudslides, local craft beer and wine. Guests will also experience live music paying homage to the culture of New Orleans, by artists to be announced soon. The 2022 class of Serendipity’s Most Innovative Chefs will also be honored: Steven Chen, MIKU, Greenwich; Will Friedman, The Whelk, Westport; Jared Sippel, L’Ostal, Darien; and Renee Touponce, Oyster Club, Mystic. A portion of the proceeds from the 2022 Greenwich Wine + Food Festival will benefit non-profits The Jacques Pépin Foundation and Wholesome Wave. Premium sponsors include Wagoneer, Compass and Greenwich Hospital. Additional events will be announced soon.
