Essex, Connecticut-founded Highclere Castle Gin received a 100-point rating from the Major League Spirits Association (MLSA) in its 2023 spirits tasting competition. The MLSA recognizes brands for excellence and quality with its annual ratings program. Highclere Castle Gin won Triple Gold and Triple Platinum for flavor and Triple Gold for package and design. Made with a unique blend of botanicals selected from the castle’s ancient estate gardens, including juniper, orange and lavender, the London Dry-style gin also uses estate-grown oats, which contribute to its smooth profile. “With its achievement of winning over 130 international awards to date, it is on a trajectory to become the most highly awarded gin in the world,” said Connecticut native, CEO and Co-founder Adam von Gootkin. “What sets Highclere Castle Gin apart is its seamless combination of traditional craftsmanship and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Drawing inspiration from the historic Highclere, the ancestral home of the Carnarvon family, the gin captures the essence of British heritage and the sophistication of a bygone era.” Highclere Castle Spirits launched in 2019, co-founded by von Gootkin and the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon, owners of Highclere Castle. The 5,000-acre estate in Hampshire, England, is one of the world’s most recognized homes, rising to international fame as the primary filming location for the Emmy-winning period drama “Downton Abbey.”
