Essex, Connecticut-founded Highclere Castle Gin announced it is now available statewide via Connecticut Distributors, Inc. Highclere Castle Spirits, makers of award-winning Highclere Castle Gin, launched in 2019 and was founded by Connecticut resident Adam von Gootkin and the Eighth Earl and Countess of Carnarvon, owners of Highclere Castle. The 5,000-acre estate in Hampshire, England, is one of the world’s most recognized homes, rising to international fame as the primary filming location for the Emmy-winning period drama “Downton Abbey.” With more than 150 awards, Highclere Castle Gin is the most awarded premium gin brand in the world. Made with a unique blend of botanicals selected from the castle’s ancient estate gardens—including juniper, orange and lavender—the London Dry-style gin also uses estate-grown oats, which contribute to its smooth profile. Von Gootkin, who previously launched Onyx Moonshine, one of Connecticut’s first distilleries to open since Prohibition, said of the importance of the brand’s home state, “Connecticut holds a special place in my heart as my home state.
