
Horizon Beverage Co. of Rhode Island hosted a Barolo tasting seminar at the Crowne Plaza Providence-Warwick on April 13, kicking off its spring portfolio tasting event, the Wine Expo. Led by Ciro Pirone, Director of Italian Wines, Horizon Beverage Co., the event showcased luxury wines from Italy’s Barolo region, from both classic and single vineyards, including Michele Chiarlo Tortoniano Barolo, Michele Chiarlo Cerequio Barolo, Palladino Serralunga Barolo, Palladino Ornato Barolo and Palladino Parafada Barolo. Known as one of the most prestigious and collectible wines in the world, Barolo is produced in the eponymous DOCG appellation in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy from Nebbiolo grapes.

- Ciro Pirone, Director of Italian Wines, Horizon Beverage Co. led the seminar on Barolo. Pirone, a graduate of the Istituto Alberghiero Hotel and Restaurant Management School in Salerno, Italy, is also a Certified Vinitaly International Academy Italian Wine Ambassador. His wine studies also include Boston University, the International Sommelier Guild and the London–based Wine & Spirit Education Trust.
