Greg Metze of Old Elk Distillery has won the Master Distiller/Master Blender of the Year Award at the 2024 Icons of Whisky Awards. Renowned for Old Elk’s distinctive approach to whiskey making and the ongoing quality, the company said the award celebrates Metze’s “outstanding contributions to the spirits industry and celebrates his legacy as one of the industry’s finest.” Throughout his career, Metze has made significant contributions to the industry with his unique approach to crafting spirits, such as his highly awarded Master’s Blend portfolio of products and the annual Infinity Blend release. Metze joined the team at Old Elk in 2016 as its Master Distiller, bringing his 40 years of experience in the whiskey industry to the brand. The Icons of Whisky Awards, in conjunction with the Whiskies of the World Awards, held its annual gala and award ceremony in Louisville, Kentucky, in February.
