Angelini Wine Ltd. and Quattro’s Italian Restaurant in Guilford welcomed Canción Tequila Co-owner Andy Verderame on May 22 for a dinner event. Quattro’s chefs prepared a five-course meal of Italian dishes each paired with specially crafted tequila cocktails made using Canción Tequila expressions. Its Blanco, Reposado, Añejo and Extra Añejo are all double-distilled and then filtered three times for an ultra-premium, surprisingly smooth taste. The agave is harvested from the valleys of Jalisco, Mexico, where the obsidian-rich soil imparts a slight citrusy, peppery hue to the Blanco. Canción Reposado Tequila is aged for nine months in Kentucky bourbon barrels of American white oak, leaving buttery, oaky notes. The Añejo is aged even longer, remaining in the American white oak bourbon barrels for 18 months and boasting notes of smoky tobacco and vanilla finish. The latest addition to the Canción Tequila family is the Extra Añejo, which rests for at least three years, creating a celestial union of a premium bourbon barrel and agave spirit to conjure seamless notes of dry fruit, woody smoke and hints of caramel and butterscotch.
