Slocum & Sons Welcomes New Napa Wines

By June 1, 2025Connecticut, Top News

Loren Crossing Oakville Sauvignon Blanc 2024 and Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2023.

Slocum & Sons welcomed Napa Valley, California, wines from Loren Crossing. The brand is inspired by a bicycle route through Napa Valley on its namesake path, which winds through the beautiful vineyards and natural landscapes in the region. Among the valley’s flora and fauna is the California Bay Laurel, a native tree with rich culinary and medicinal uses. Loren Crossing Oakville Sauvignon Blanc 2024 is a blend of 86% Sauvignon Blanc and 14% Sémillon handpicked grapes. The Sauvignon Blanc underwent primary fermentation in a stainless steel tank and the Sémillon in Hermitage cigar barrels with some lees contact and a six-month élevage before bottling. Loren Crossing Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Grapes are handpicked in Napa Valley, with a large portion grown in St. Helena, and are then destemmed and crushed for native yeast primary fermentation in closed-top vats on the skins for 24 days. The wine was racked to 40% new French oak barrels from Seguin Moreau, Boutes, Taransaud and Nadalié for complete malolactic conversion, followed by 16 months of aging.
