The staff of Sip Wine Bar in Old Saybrook and team from distributor Worldwide Wines welcomed Rudger van Wyk, Head Winemaker at Stark-Condé Wines and Founder and Winemaker at South African winemaking company Kara-Tara, on Oct. 3. Van Wyk, along with Sip Wine Bar Owner/Proprietor Derrik Kennedy, hosted an open-to-the-public wine tasting class where attendees tasted six different wines made by van Wyk and his team and enjoyed carefully selected accouterments while learning about the culture, the soil, the environment and the vision that brought each Stark-Condé, Kara-Tara and Essay wine to fruition. Van Wyk was the latest visitor in a series of global winemakers who have brought their knowledge, passion and purpose to Sip Wine Bar. These classes aim to educate guests of all levels of wine interest and knowledge, bringing the world of wine to Connecticut.
