Spirits from South Norwalk’s SoNo 1420 were showcased at a bar takeover event at the Connecticut Cigar Company’s C3 Lounge in downtown Stamford. During the Pardi Gras event on March 28, team from SoNo 1420 poured tastes of select spirits from the craft distillery and gave guests education on the brand, known as America’s maritime distillery. Blake Poon, Mixologist and Master Distiller, SoNo 1420, created special event cocktails for guests, who paired selections with hand-rolled cigars from the Connecticut Cigar Company. During the event, guests tasted 1420 Single Barrel Whiskey, a gold medal winner in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition; Special Reserve Spirit, a gold medal winner in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition; and Full Proof Whiskey, a double gold winner in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. SoNo 1420 was founded in 2019 by Ted Dumbauld, who launched the distillery after experimenting with hemp-based whiskey recipes. All of the brand’s ultra-premium, award-winning spirits are crafted in historic South Norwalk on Day Street. The brand is self-distributed in Connecticut.
