The Macallan has added The Macallan Double Cask 12 Year Old to the brand’s core range in the U.S. This marks the first time the distillery has used American Oak Sherry-seasoned casks in an expression, blending them harmoniously with those aged in Sherry-seasoned European oak casks (hence “Double Cask”). The result is a complex yet approachable profile with the less tannic American oak allowing more vanilla to shine through, giving off sweet and fresh fruit flavors.
