Twenty-nine restaurants in Connecticut received Wine Spectator’s Annual Awards of Excellence 2017. The following restaurants received the “Best of” Award of Excellence: Barcelona Wine Bar’s Norwalk, Stamford, Fairfield, New Haven and West Hartford locations; David Burke Prime Steakhouse in Foxwoods Resort Casino; Fife ‘N Drum Restaurant & Inn in Kent; Gabriele’s Italian Steakhouse in Greenwich; Kensington’s in Norwich; L’Escale Restaurant in Greenwich; La Foresta Restaurant & Wine Bar in Killingworth; and Max Downtown in Hartford. The following restaurants were recognized with an Award of Excellence: 2 Hopewell in Glastonbury; Del Frisco’s Grille in Stamford; Esca Restaurant & Wine Bar in Middletown; Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar in West Hartford; Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse at Mohegan Sun Casino; Nouveau Monde Wine Bar & Bistro in Sandy Hook; Shell & Bones Oyster Bar & Grill in New Haven; Tarry Lodge in New Haven and Westport; The Capital Grille in Hartford and Stamford; The Griswold Inn Wine Bar in Essex; The North House in Avon; Viron Rondo Osteria in Cheshire; Vivo Seasonal Trattoria in Hartford; Vue 24 at Foxwoods Resort Casino; and Zinc Restaurant in New Haven. The magazine recognized 3,592 restaurants across all 50 states and 75 countries based on the establishment’s wine list.
