Hartford Flavor Company, in collaboration with Brescome Barton, hosted a cocktail competition and pairing dinner at Vyne Restaurant in Middlebury on March 29. The afternoon began with an educational session and tasting of its locally made Wild Moon liqueurs and botanic liqueurs, as well as its newly launched Hartford Flavor Organic Vodka and Vanilla Vodka, for participating bartenders, led by Lelaneia Dubay, Founder and Maker, Hartford Flavor Company. Then, mixologists squared off in a friendly competition, creating their best cocktails featuring spirits from the line. Judges Tom and Lelaneia Dubay, Owners, Hartford Flavor Co., and Philip Polzella, Executive Chef, Vyne Restaurant, evaluated each cocktail entry based on its taste, originality and the story behind its creation. The first-place winner was Karen Veillette, Community Table; second-place went to Zach Little, home enthusiast; and the third-place winner was Scott Wawrzniak, Spartans. Hartford Flavor Company then hosted a pairing dinner in the evening at Vyne Restaurant, featuring cuisine prepared by Polzella and his culinary team.
