Oceanstate Wine & Spirits welcomed new rum and agave-based spirit brand Sunora Bacanora blended in two cream flavors: Sunora Cream De Bacanora Mocha and Sunora Cream De Bacanora Pineapple Colada, each at 30 proof. Born in the Mexican state of Sonora, bacanora is an agave-based spirit growing in popularity among tequila and mezcal enthusiasts. Smoother than mezcal and smokier than tequila, bacanora boasts a history as complex as its flavor: it was outlawed as moonshine for much of the 20th century because of a regional prohibition but was later granted a DO in 2000. Made from only agave Pacifica (A. angustifolia) in Sonora, which borders Arizona and the Gulf of California, its desert provenance lends a drier, often less smoky note. The lineup launches in two craft cream liqueurs, in 100-ml and 750-ml formats. Enjoy it chilled over ice, mixed into cream cocktails or neat from the bottle.
