By May 1, 2022Connecticut, Top News

Angelini Wine Ltd offers wines from the Domaine Eugène Carrel et Fils located in the Jongieux valley, Savoie region, in eastern France, made in the mountainous areas just south of Lac Léman, Lake Geneva, and the border with Switzerland. Vigneron and winemaker Olivier Carrel represent the sixth generation of the family, delivering original and expressive wines from its Alpine terroir. “For a long time, we at Angelini Wine have recognized that the wines of Savoie offer outstanding quality and value. We were thrilled when the wines of old friends, the Carrel family, became available. Eugene Carrel is the sixth generation of a family of Savoie wine growers. The signature style of the Carrel wines is freshness and vitality, with precise aromatics and flavors. We look forward to reintroducing the wines to clients who are already familiar with them, and to a host of new fans besides,” said Paul Cullen, Connecticut Sales Manager, Angelini Wine. New to the market are two wines: Carrel Jongieux Blanc and Carrel Savoie Rosé. Carrel Jongieux Blanc is made from the native Jacquere grape, exemplifying wine expert Hugh Johnson’s characterization of this varietal: “You are drinking bottled mountain air.” Working with fully ripe yet delicate grapes with a low natural sugar and alcohol level, the wine is never more than 11.5% ABV. Carrel’s unique Savoie Rosé is a blend of 80% Gamay and 20% Mondeuse, a wine of exceptional freshness and concentration, derived from the unique blend of native grapes and the Alpine environment with flavors and aromas of red cherry, strawberry, citrus, flowers and minerals.
