Anheuser-Busch Acquires Craft Brew Alliance and Brands

By December 24, 2019Top News

Anheuser-Busch bought out Portland’s Craft Brew Alliance for $220 million in November 2019. The transaction cements Anheuser-Busch’s ownership of Widmer Brothers Brewing and several other brands, including Kona Brewing Co. and Redhook. Anheuser-Busch had already owned just under a third of the Craft Brew Alliance (CBA). “By combining our resources, our talented teammates and dynamic brands, we will look to nurture the growth of CBA’s existing portfolio as we continue investing in innovation to meet the changing needs of today’s beverage consumers, all while delivering certainty of value to our shareholders,” Andy Thomas, CBA’s Chief Executive, said in a written statement announcing the deal. In addition to Widmer, Kona and Redhook, Appalachian Mountain Brewery, Wynwood Brewing, Cisco Brewers, Omission Brewing Co. and Square Mile Cider Co. are also now part of the Anheuser-Busch portfolio.
