The second annual Best of New England Wine Competition took place in Charlottesville, Virginia on April 25. Six judges including grape and fruit wine, cider, and mead specialists, tasted dozens of entries from New England states resulting in 42 medals: two Double Gold, nine Gold, 13 Silver and 17 Bronze medals. The competition took place in Charlottesville to ensure judges would not recognize the wines. Connecticut vintners’ two Best of Category awards were as follows: Best White Wine for Sharpe Hill Vineyards Dry Riesling 2016, and Best Fruit Wine for Sunset Meadow Vineyards SMV Enchanted Apple.
