Providence native Matthew Simmons was named Rhode Island Brand Ambassador for Black Fig Vodka. Simmons will support the brand’s focus on driving awareness through engagement at on- and off-premise events. Black Fig is a premium vodka distilled from grain, naturally infused with California figs, and bottled by hand in small batches. It is distributed by MS Walker in the state. The 60-proof vodka is gluten-free and made without artificial sugars, flavors or colors. It is the first spirit produced by Black Infusions of Boston, Massachusetts, and was recently awarded the Best Flavored Vodka Double Gold Medal at the 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The hiring of state brand ambassadors in Rhode Island and other states is the result of the artisanal vodka’s recent entrance into five new markets, an expansion that nearly doubles the brand’s U.S. footprint.
