Johnson Brothers of Rhode Island showcased Brancaia wines as part of Providence’s Splendor of Florence events during a special pairing with cuisine by Chef and Restaurateur Armando Bisceglia and Florence-based Chef Federico Minucci. Created in 1998 by Joyce Acciaioli Rudge, Splendor of Florence celebrates the iconic Italian city of art and culture by forming partnerships that recognize the generations of artists, artisans, musicians and chefs whose accomplishments inspire people to discover the importance of continuity and tradition. Guests enjoyed Brancaia Rosé, Chianti and Blu among selections. The Brancaia winery includes around 40 hectares of vineyards in the Chianti Classico (Castellina in Chianti and Radda in Chianti) and another 40 hectares in the Maremma. The five-course pairing menu opened with Contratto Brut Sparkling and closed with Contratto Vermouth. Contratto is the oldest producer of sparkling wine in Italy. The ground-floor space of the Tilden-Thurber building temporarily reopened on Nov. 9 for Splendor of Florence, a 10-day festival celebrating the two Renaissance and sister cities. It’s the first time the festival has taken place in Providence since 2002.
