Sustainability Workshop for Bartenders – Bridgeport @ Hub & Spoke

Glyph and Highland Imports will host a sustainability workshop geared towards bartenders and bar owners at Hub & Spoke in Bridgeport on Monday, February 24, 2020.

During the workshop, “How to Become a Sustainable Bartender,” Claire Sprouse, Owner of Brooklyn’s Hunky Dory will provide bartenders with the skills to identify and reduce the waste created from making cocktails and other specialty drinks. An informal hour of cocktails and lite bites will follow the workshop.

Rhode Island PBS will host its annual food and wine event, “An Evening Uncorked!” on April 21 at the WaterFire Arts Center in Providence. Returning for its 23rd year, the event will feature WJAR’s Mario Hilario as Event Emcee and Chef Ming Tsai, host of the PBS show, Simply Ming, as its celebrity guest, with a book signing by Ming, with his new book, Simply Ming One-Pot Meals. Guests will enjoy a variety of drink tastes from local wholesalers, fine wines from Gasbarro’s Wines and Brands of Portugal, spirits from Boston Harbor Distillery, KEEL Vodka, Rhode Island Spirits and Stonecutter Spirits; and beer from Narragansett Beer and Whalers Brewing Company, paired with food from top Rhode Island eateries. Showcased venues will include Blaze, Bywater, Chapel Grille, Diego’s Eastside, Gracie’s, Luigi’s, Pot Au Feu, Russel Morin Catering & Events, The Capital Grille and Coast Guard House. Event is 21+.

Beardsley Zoo’s Wild Wine Beer & Food Safari @ The Beardsley Zoo

The Beardsley Zoo will host its annual Wild Wine Beer & Food Safari on June 3. Guests will have the opportunity to taste food, beer and wine from dozens of vendors while taking in museum exhibits and visiting its many animals. Other entertainment will include live music, games and a silent auction. Presented by Turnpike Spirit Shop, participating venues include Fortuna’s Catering Co., Hair of the Dog, Hardcore Sweet, Hub & Spoke, Little Pub, Vazzy’s, Yalla Organic Hummus & Grill and more. Opened in 1922, the Beardsley Zoo is Connecticut’s only zoo and is home to 305 animals. The annual tasting event is the zoo’s largest fundraiser with proceeds to benefit care of the zoo’s endangered species, expansion of exhibits and educational programming.

Rhode Island PBS will host its annual food and wine event, “An Evening Uncorked!” on Rhode Island PBS invites guests to a vibrant Pop Art experience at The WaterFire Arts Center in Providence during its annual culinary and vinous extravaganza. Celebrating close to 56 years of public television excellence, WSBE Rhode Island PBS will host guests at The Water Fire Arts Center for our food and wine fundraising event, Uncorked! The festive spring event will take place on April 12, 2024 and will feature wine tastings of fine domestic and international vintages selected for this event from the cellars of local purveyors and private donors. Savory small bites are prepared by chefs from more than a dozen of the best restaurants, caterers and confectioners in Rhode Island and southeastern New England. Throughout the evening, guests may also participate in an instant-win wine grab and browse the micro-silent and live auctions offering boutique wines and unique gift packages.Celebrity chefs Bridget Lancaster (“America’s Test Kitchen”) and Bryan Roof (“Cook’s Country”) will be present.
