Cocktails on the “Alice in Wonderland”-inspired rooftop.

Southington’s Cava Restaurant hosted an Alice in Wonderland-themed cocktail tasting on its rooftop on August 21. Guests tasted six handcrafted half-size cocktails featuring Diplomático Planas Rum, RumHaven Coconut Liqueur, New Amsterdam Vodka, New Amsterdam Stratosphere Gin, St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur and La Marca Prosecco. Selections included the Drink Me, a blend of New Amsterdam Vodka, fresh lemon, hibiscus and magical butterfly tea; the Whooo Are You?, featuring RumHaven Coconut Liqueur, Blue Curaçao, pineapple juice and smoking dry ice; We’re All Mad Here, a mix of New Amsterdam Stratosphere Gin, fresh lime juice, kiwi puree and green tea; the Cheshire Cat, a blend of New Amsterdam Lemon Vodka, wild berry puree, La Marca Prosecco and pink cotton candy; the Talking Flowers, made with Diplomático Planas Rum, St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur, fresh lemon juice, peach puree and La Marca Prosecco; and the Off with Their Heads, made with Diplomático Planas Rum, fresh lime juice, strawberry puree and a pop rock candy rim. Two separate tastings were held during the afternoon on Cava’s socially distanced, Alice in Wonderland-themed rooftop, which accommodates guests under current state pandemic capacity guidelines. The garden features artfully sculpted shrubbery depicting famous Alice in Wonderland characters with hidden objects, flowers and water installations mixed throughout.
