Charter Oak Brewing Co. hosted a Kölsch Night at its outdoor Biergarten on June 28. More than 100 guests enjoyed beer under the stars for a summer evening showcasing Charter Oak’s Easy Riding Kölsch Style, served in traditional Kölsch glassware, enjoyed alongside German music and pretzels. The event was modeled after festivals in Cologne, Germany, the birthplace of Kölsch-style beer. The Danbury-based brewery has both its commercial 20-barrel system and pilot five-barrel brewhouses operating for over 10,000 barrels of capacity and has its own high-speed canning line, overseen by Scott Vallely, Owner and Brewmaster. The brewery’s flagship brands include 1687 Brown Ale, Royal Charter Pale Ale and Wadsworth IPA and was awarded the Connecticut Magazine Winner badge for 2023’s Best Brewery in the state, with nearly 290,000 consumer votes in the annual Best of CT survey.
