Three Connecticut craft breweries received awards for brewing excellence at the 2017 Great American Beer Festival at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver on September 15 through 17. The annual festival and competition features the largest selection of American beer served in the U.S. and includes public tasting events and beer competitions. The Connecticut award winners are Back East Brewing of Bloomfield, who took home a gold medal for its Porter; Stony Creek Brewery of Branford, who received a bronze for its brew, Stony Joe and bronze for its Dock Time brew; and Half Full Brewery of Stamford, who received a bronze medal for its Bright Ale. Connecticut breweries had a total of 39 entries in the national event.
