Diageo Beer Company USA is set to open its new Maryland-based Guinness brewery on August 3. The $80-million Open Gate Brewery & Barrel House in Relay will be open to the public as well as produce Guinness Blonde American Lager and newer “experimental” brews, led by Brewmaster Peter Wiens and Head Brewer Hollie Stephenson. Guinness Draught and the other classic stouts will be brewed exclusively in Ireland and imported to the U.S. Visitors can expect a “world-class Guinness experience, blending local Maryland flavor and Irish hospitality,” from its taproom, including tours of the 10-barrel brewery, gift shops and restaurant.
