Diageo CEO Ivan Menezes was awarded a Knighthood for services to “Business and to Equality, in His Majesty The King’s 2023 New Year Honours List.” Menezes, one of Britain’s longest-serving Financial Times Stock Exchange chief executives is credited with transforming Diageo into the world’s leading premium drinks company, accounting for 10% (£2bn) of the United Kingdom’s total food and drinks exports. The company leads on sustainability, receiving a Double A rating for Water Security and Climate Change, and is committed to net zero carbon emissions by 2030. Menezes has championed women and Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities in British business, with 42% of Diageo’s senior leadership positions globally held by women and 37% ethnically diverse. Other initiatives he is recognized as leading include community initiatives on sustainability, tackling alcohol-related harm and youth employment efforts.
