On December 16, 2013 at The Grange in Providence, The Great Bols Takeover took place, headed by East Coast Brand Ambassador Jennifer Ferreira. Her guest bartending shift included classic cocktails with a Dutch twist by use of Bols Genever, such as the “First Word,” where Genever replaces gin as in the classic “Last Word,” the “John Collins” and “Oude Fashioned,” spins-offs of the “Tom Collins” and “Old Fashioned.” Featured was a Dutch tradition of “Koopstje” which translates into “little head butt,” with Budweiser and a Genever shot. Ferreira explained that when drinking, the head touches the glass “to slurp from the top of the tulip glass; it is bad luck to spill any of the precious Genever.”
