By March 25, 2022Rhode Island, Top News

Newport’s Bar and Board, in cooperation with Bully Boy Distillers, hosted a History of Cocktails President’s Day event on Feb. 21. Led by local cocktail historian and bartender, John Begin, guests learned the connecting history of Newport’s past presidential visitors and how to make four presidential-themed cocktails featuring Bully Boy Distillers spirits. The cocktails included a nod to The Gilbert Stuart cocktail, in honor of George Washington, featuring Bully Boy Rum Cooperative Volume 2, lime juice and Blackstrap molasses, served over rocks in a highball with molasses drizzled over rocks and a lime garnish; The Derby Cocktail Tropical, in honor of Dwight Eisenhower, a blend of Bully Boy American Straight Whiskey, pineapple juice, lemon juice and pineapple simple syrup, served over rocks in a rocks glass with a pineapple leaf garnish; The Jackie’s Daiquiri cocktail, in honor of John F. Kennedy Jr., Bully Boy Rum Cooperative Volume 1, lime juice, limeade and Falernum, served up in a coupe glass with a lime twist garnish; and the Table 50 at The White Horse [Tavern] cocktail, in honor of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Bully Boy Distillers Vodka, pomegranate juice, raspberry orange juice and pineapple juice, served up in a short flute glass.
