The team from Industrious Spirit Company (ISCO) hosted its first annual Winter-Blues-Be-Gone Party at its tasting room and distillery in January. Guests enjoyed bites such as caviar butter and Gravlax by Fearless Fish, which accompanied the Providence distillery’s release of two aquavits, each locally crafted versions of the Scandinavian caraway spirit. At 42% ABV, the Aged and Unaged aquavits are each made with organic corn, malted rye, caraway seeds and heavily seeded rye bread. ISCO’s Unaged Aquavit gives off aromas of earthy cumin and warm rye, giving way to subtle candied lemon and caraway flavors followed by a lush, verdant dill that lingers on the palate. For the Aged version, aromas of rye, caraway, vanilla and caramel are followed by cozy cumin and candied fennel on the palate. The line also includes Blue Velvet Bourbon, Patina Barrel Aged Gin, Ornamental Gin, Structural Vodka, Ostreida Oyster Vodka and Gemma Crystal Vodka, distributed in Rhode Island by Horizon Beverage Co.
