
Jackson Family Wines announced the August acquisition of the Yarra Valley winery Giant Steps, a highly regarded producer of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The move expands Jackson Family Wines’ presence in Australia, which includes the Yangarra Estate Vineyard and Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyard, both in McLaren Vale. The acquisition includes purchase of Giant Steps’ Sexton and Applejack vineyards, 75 hectares total. Giant Steps was established in 1997 by Phil Sexton, who will continue his role as Founder and General Manager of Giant Steps. According to the company’s press release, Steve Flamsteed will remain Chief Winemaker.
