Campari America featured Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum Master Blender Joy Spence as a special guest in its Tiki by the Sea livestream series of Tiki Tuesday Talks on August 18. Anne Louise Marquis, Portfolio Brand Ambassador, Campari America, hosted the segment “The Queen of Rum: Catching up with Joy Spence of Appleton,” where Spence discussed the history and distillation techniques behind Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum, along with personal anecdotes from her experience working as the rum’s Master Blender since 1997. Spence holds the distinction of being the first woman in the world to hold the position of Master Blender in the spirits industry. Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum recently released its latest expression, Appleton Estate 8 Year Old Reserve, to commemorate its 250th anniversary. The expression features hints of spicy fruit and oak on the nose with flavors of honey, vanilla, holiday spice and notes of orange peel. Tiki Tuesday Talks is a trade-focused, interactive virtual series led by representatives from Campari America featuring brand education and interviews with industry greats, along with cocktail recipes from guest bartenders, airing weekly at 3 p.m. Eastern.
