Johnson Brothers of Rhode Island welcomed High Noon Tequila Seltzer and Don Fulano Tequila with a Cinco de Mayo tasting event. The newest spirit-based RTD from High Noon is sold in 355-ml 8-can variety packs with two flavors from each of its available four: Strawberry, Lime, Grapefruit and Passionfruit. Made with real Blanco tequila, real fruit juice, sparkling water and natural flavors, each is 4.5% ABV and 100 calories. Strawberry offers a fresh, juicy, sweet strawberry flavor with a hint of “white sweet”; Lime highlights fresh and juicy lime; Grapefruit is a complex blend of juicy grapefruit and fresh citrus; and Passionfruit brings tropical flavor. Sampling in many venues around Newport marked the launch date on May 5, with Wally’s Wieners a showcased sales stop. Johnson Brothers also highlighted its newest tequila addition, Don Fulano in Blanco, Reposado and Añejo, made exclusively with three ingredients: estate-grown, hand-selected Maduro and Pinto agave, proprietary yeast and natural volcanic water. Unfiltered, untouched, and free of additives and made by the fifth generation of the Fonseca family at La Tequileña Distillery (NOM 1146), Don Fulano uses fermentations with and without bagasse, and distills its spirits in copper alembics for depth and agave character, as well as an experimental copper Coffey still with maturation in French Limousin and Nevers casks that previously held wines from Burgundy, the Loire and Bordeaux.
