The Land and Sea Culinary dinner series presented by Eat Drink RI showcased local fare paired with wine and beer offerings in July. The first part of the “land” dinner series was held in the beginning of July on Blackbird Farm in Smithfield. The series continued with the “sea” offering at Matunuck Oyster and Vegetable Farm in South Kingstown as the backdrop for two farm dinners: the first on July 24 with Chef Chris Kleyla of Statesman Tavern, who prepared oyster, shrimp, and sausage courses and peach crumble for dessert. Featured wines included Odinstal Riesling Sekt, D’Alfonso del Sordo “Catapanus” Bombino Bianco 2015, Chateau de Lancyre Rose, Domaine Guillot Broux “Beaumont,” and Hillinger Muskat Ottonel. On July 25, Chef Antonio Franco of Basta Restaurant prepared oysters served with cucumbers, along with bruschetta and grilled ribeye courses and strawberry tart for dessert. Featured wines included Sektkellerei Ohlig Brut Weisse, Chateau Lafont Menaut Blanc, Rojac Malvasia, Camerano Dolcetto and San Venanzio Prosecco. The wines were paired via The Wine Bros. and The Savory Grape. Narragansett Beer also featured Bancroft Up or Down Ale, Summertime Citra Ale and Lovecraft The Temple Sticke Altbier during both dinners.
