Litchfield Distillery Adds Agave Spirits to Lineup

By September 25, 2020Connecticut, Top News

Litchfield Distillery Agave Spirits is bottled at 80 proof and sold in 750-ml bottles.

Litchfield Distillery announced the addition of Agave Spirits to its lineup of Connecticut-made spirits, available across the state in late August. The inspiration for the launch was borne from a decision made earlier this year to add the Batcherita to its ready-to-drink canned cocktail line, which is its twist on a margarita and requires an agave-based spirit. “We imported agave nectar from Mexico to ferment and distill right here in Litchfield,” said David Baker, Co-owner, Litchfield Distillery. “We liked what we made so much that we were intrigued to see how it would taste after resting some in our retired bourbon barrels. It was fantastic, so we decided to bottle it and offer it to our consumers.” The distillery sourced the finest organic agave syrup in the world from farms located in and around Capilla de Guadalupe, Mexico. The only raw material is 100% blue agave Tequilana Weber and holds certifications that include USDA organic, EU organic, non-GMO project verified, kosher, halal, C-TPAT, FSSC 22000 and a UL-Social audit. “To the best of our knowledge, we think we’re the first distillery in Connecticut to manufacture agave spirits,” continued Baker. “We’re very satisfied with how smooth and full-bodied this spirit turned out. We’ve been enjoying sipping it neat as an apéritif or digestif.”
