Local Restaurants Give Back for St. Patrick’s Day

Staff from Midtown Oyster Bar and O’Brien’s Pub in Newport and Fieldstones Grille in Portsmouth recently teamed up to sponsor a free fish and chips lunch from McGrath Clambakes & Catering at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center in Newport on March 17. Charlie Holder of Midtown Oyster Bar, T.R. McGrath of McGrath Clambakes & Catering, Kerrie Philbin of O’Brien’s Pub and Leah Alexander of Fieldstones Grille, along with musician Ealaín McMullin, served the lunches along with cookies from the Newport Sweet Shoppe. Live Irish music was provided by the Newport String Project. In February, O’Brien’s Pub, Midtown Oyster Bar, Atlantic Grille and Fieldstones Grille took part in a fundraiser, donating 10% of all sales of fish and chips to benefit the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center. Then in March, O’Brien’s Pub, Midtown Oyster Bar and Fieldstones Grille continued the program on Fridays until the end of Lent.
